Opening the series for the new academic year, the evening will begin with our monthly Ciorcal Comhrá, an Irish-language conversation circle and informal class designed to encourage spoken Irish in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming environment. Participants of all levels are warmly welcome, including complete beginners with no prior knowledge of the language.
The second part of the evening will feature Irish composer, vocalist and songwriter Liv Monaghan, who will introduce her ongoing artistic research project, The Living Lament.
Based in Paris, Liv's work brings together jazz, songwriting, improvisation and Irish vocal traditions, with the voice at the centre of her musical practice. The Living Lament explores how traditional Irish vocal practices can become living sources for new music, creative practice and intercultural dialogue.
You can find out more about Liv's work at: livmonaghanmusic.com.
The session will be held on Sunday, 27 September 2026 at the premises of the Irish Institute of Hellenic Studies at Athens (Agras 23, Pangrati).
