Congratulations to Juliette Quatre & Kate Higgs, recipients of our American Friends of the IIHSA Scholarships (2025)
We are delighted to announce the award of two scholarships, generously funded by the American Friends of the IIHSA, to Juliette Quatre and Kate Higgs. We wish them both good luck with their studies and a productive time in Greece.
Juliette Quatre (above left) is just starting her doctoral research in the Department of Classics, Trinity College Dublin
Juliette tells us: ‘My thesis ‘Defining Space in Graeco-Egyptian Sanctuaries: Religious Experience and Social Interactions in Hellenistic and Early Roman Precincts’ focuses on the interrelations between sacred architecture, religious experience, and social interactions in the Graeco-Egyptian sanctuaries of the Hellenistic and early Roman periods around the Aegean. This scholarship will therefore help me travelling to Greece and accessing not only the materials, but also their publications in the different institutional libraries in Athens, as well as honing my recording and technical skills using GIS and 3D modelling by participating in excavations projects.’
Kate Higgs (above right) is an undergraduate student in the Department of Classics, Trinity College Dublin. Kate shares with us that ‘this will be an amazing opportunity for me to take my studies beyond lecture theatres by visiting the sites themselves. I have a keen interest for architecture, particularly temples.’ She will be using her scholarship to join the IIHSA Greek Study tour later in the summer as well as spending time at the Institute in Athens.
